Interesting about Georgia

"He who is in a hurry is always late", says Georgian folklore, and it has to be admitted that in today's world, where speed is only increasing, taking time has become of the essence.

So it's worth heeding the advice of the Georgians and visiting their homeland of endlessly powerful experiences.

Here, we give you some reasons why.

Tskhaltubo

Tskhaltubo is a balneological resort town located in Imereti, in the central part of western Georgia. The resort is located in the valley of the river of the same name, Tskaltubo, at an altitude of 100 m above sea level, surrounded by picturesque hills covered with evergreen shrubs and deciduous forests. The resort owes its fame to the unique properties of its mineral radon water, which has been popular in Georgia since ancient times. The first mention of Tskhaltuba water dates back to the VII century, and it was first mentioned as a health resort already in the XII-XIII centuries.

Tskhaltubo was first used as a balneological resort many centuries ago - the kings and their courtiers loved to improve their health with the local mineral water. Later, after Georgia's annexation to the Russian Empire Russian nobles and military officers became majority of resort visitors.

In the beginning, people used to use Tskhaltubo mineral water in bathhouses of the town, but they were completely destroyed and have not survived until today. According to one version, the town got its name due to the warm thermal springs: "Tskaltubo" means "warm water" in Mingrelian. In 1920. Tskhaltubo officially acquires the status of a balneological resort and its mineral springs pass under state control, but development of the resort begins a little later in 1926.

Climate:

From the northeast Tskhaltubo is adjoined by the spurs of the Samguralsky ridge, which belongs to the mountain system of the Greater Caucasus and has a barrier function, protecting the resort from cold northern winds. To the south, the Colchis Depression juts out towards the Black Sea. The resort is situated in a subtropical zone with a mild and humid climate. Winter is mild, with the coldest months being in January and February, but don't be alarmed, the average temperature in winter is +5 with almost no snow. Summers are very warm, moderately humid with an average temperature of +24. Sunny days tend to prevail.

  • Sightseeing tour in Kutaisi
  • National reserve Staplia

Mineral Waters:

"Tskhaltubo treats everything". This is certainly an exaggeration, but it is not too far from the truth. It is scientifically proven that thermal water in Tskhaltubo can cure up to 70 illnesses and the range of illnesses is quite broad. It is recommended by the doctors to undergo a course of treatment that lasts 10 to 20 days.

The natural temperature of the water is +33-35°C, which makes it usable without prior heating. The mineral water is characterised by rather stable physico-chemical properties. The effective curative and preventive properties of mineral waters are explained by their extremely complex composition and peculiar combination of the main ingredients of their salt composition.

A distinctive feature of Tskhaltuba baths is their milder action compared to the Narzan and Matsestinskie baths, so they are much easier to tolerate and the indications for their use is somewhat broader. Unique radon, chloride-hydrocarbonate-sulfate, sodium-magnesium-calcium waters can treat such diseases as diseases of musculoskeletal system, cardiovascular system and nervous system, skin and endocrine disorders, gynecological diseases, metabolic disorders, etc. While radon water is mostly used for baths, the other waters are used for inhalations, irrigations, and other specific therapeutic purposes.

The main component of Tskhaltuba water is radon, which causes certain reactions in the body through the skin and respiratory tracts, affecting cell and tissue structures. The water from Tskhaltuba also has curative and preventive effects: it enhances immunity, supports the body's defence and adaptive powers, strengthens the barrier function of the lymphatic system. In order to decide which bath you require, you should consult a doctor. Your doctor will do an examination and only then will prescribe a specific bath.
