Tallinn University is a modern and dynamic research university in Estonia with a leading role in promoting an intelligent lifestyle through education, research, and a unique collaboration across disciplines. We have nearly 7000 students and 500 academic employees. One in ten of our lecturers is from abroad, and the proportion of foreign students and the university's contribution to international research is growing from year to year. Currently we host degree students from around 80 different countries all over the world. Tallinn University ranks among the top 5% of universities in the world.

Focus Fields

The university is developing research carried out by focusing resources and activities on five interdisciplinary focus fields

Educational Innovation We aim to adapt teaching and learning to the 21st century circumstances: the changing labour market, the rapidly renewing information environment, a sociey that expects more proactivity and creativity from everyone.  
Digital and Media Culture   Digital media has developed into a branch of the economy that has the most influence on societal processes. We are leaders in promoting digital literacy, studying the impacts of human-computer interaction, and developing digital didactics and study aids.
Cultural Competences In an increasingly globalized world we are open to cultural, political and economic influences arising from different societies, their historical developments and traditions.
Healthy and Sustainable Lifestyle Intelligent choices for developing a healthy lifestyle to reduce the burden on nature, pressure on the social services and the demands to the healthcare sector to support the well-being of the ageing population.  
Society and Open Governance Contemporary society is characterized by growing uncertainty, fragmentation and mutual dependency. We help governance, institutions and the legal system cope with the new world and offers research-based and innovative solutions.

Bachelor’s Studies

Tallinn University offers 6 Bachelor’s programmes fully in English, with many offering a unique interdisciplinary approach.

The programmes offer a wide basis to be able to continue either on a Master's Studies or join the workforce from the get go. Our programmes are designed in a way that they offer practical value and interning opportunities from early on to make sure to prepare you for the next steps. You might be interested in cultures and anthropology or open governance or you just might dream of becoming the next Steven Spielberg or Greta Gerwig, all this knowledge is waiting for you in our Bachelor's Studies. 

Master's Studies

Tallinn University offers 16 Master's programmes fully in English, preparing you for a career that matters. Whether it be that your passion lies with the emergence of A.I. solutions, the Estonian language and culture, supporting the educators of the world or becoming an expert in field of workplace and public health - the variety of programmes offer fulfillment factor for everyone. 

Most of the programmes are open to all applicants, unless stated otherwise on the page of the programme.

2024 application deadlines for Bachelor's programmes
  • Non-EU/EEA applicants (except applicants from Republic of Korea, Japan, USA): March 15, 2024  
  • Applicants from Republic of Korea, Japan and USA: May 1, 2024  
  • EU/EEA and citizens: June 1, 2024  
  • Finnish, Latvian and Lithuanian citizens who have obtained general secondary education in Finland, Latvia or Lithuania for Bachelor level programmes: August 7, 2024  

Deadline July 1 applies to international applicants who:  

  • are non-EU/EEA citizens residing in Estonia, have a valid Estonian TRP and whose previous level of studies was completed in Estonia;
  • are EU/EEA citizens residing in Estonia, have a valid Estonian ID-card and whose previous level of studies was completed in Estonia.
2024 application deadlines for Masters's programmes
  • Non-EU/EEA applicants (except applicants  to the online programmes, from the Republic of Korea, Japan, USA): March 15, 2024
  • Applicants from the Republic of Korea, Japan, USA (except applicants to the online programmes): May 1, 2024
  • EU/EEA citizens and applicants to the online programmes: June 1, 2024

Deadline 1 July applies to international applicants who:

  • are non-EU/EEA citizens residing in Estonia, have a valid Estonian TRP and whose previous level of studies was completed in Estonia;
  • are EU/EEA citizens residing in Estonia, have a valid Estonian ID-card and whose previous level of studies was completed in Estonia.
2024 application deadlines for PhD programmes
  • Autumn intake for the PhD programmes starts on May 20, 2024. Deadline for submitting your application: July 1, 2024.
